Who needs some good news? We sincerely hope these Re-authoring Teaching offerings will offer a ray of hope and possibility for 2017. Early Bird registration is now open for three workshop days in June! Narrative Camp 2017 details are now ready. We’ve also added two new sections to our website: Curated Resources & Faculty Offerings.
Narrative practices have evolved in many ways over the decades in response to changing professional, social and cultural contexts. The founders of the Narrative Therapy approach, the late Michael White and David Epston, gave voice to the hope and intention that we would continue to try out different modes of inquiry, come up with new practices, and integrate these cherished ways of being with people that fit with our own local experiences and socio-political contexts.
This two-day workshop builds on our deep respect for the evolution of Narrative Therapy while creating spaces for an interplay with other treasured approaches. Please join Lynne, David and Ian as they honor their narrative roots while bringing together EMDR, somatic-oriented therapies, mindfulness practices and the storylines of our lives.
Early bird registration until March 1, 2017: $260 (regular) or $220 (student/fixed income).
Regular registration (after March 1): $300 (regular) or $235 (student/fixed income)
For an additional $20, sign up for 12 Continuing Education credits from Alliant International University
Insider Witness Practices (IWP) represent a dramatic re-imagination of narrative therapy practice through the use of performance. As the counterpoint to Michael White’s Outsider Witness Practices, these practices return narrative therapy to its very beginnings; a history for the future. Through a one-session performance, clients become witnesses to a hope-biased portrayal of their lives as performed by their therapist. Through performance of client videos and transcripts, David and Tom will use an immersive experiential learning process to convey what clients, therapists, and others have described as the dramatic and even magical potential of this practice. The presentation will also include the performance of a verbatim play that attempts to capture one client’s transformative experience of Insider Witness Practices.
Early bird registration until March 1, 2017: $135 (regular) or $115 (student/fixed income).
Regular registration (after March 1): $155 (regular) or $125 (student/fixed income)
For an additional $20, sign up for 6 Continuing Education credits from Alliant International University
In preparation for welcoming visitors from all over the world, we’ve secured a number of Lake Champlain cottage rentals in walking distance to each other. These week long rentals (June 11-18) will book up quickly. Please Contact Us as soon as possible if you wish to reserve a room and/or an entire cottage. We do our best to keep costs low. Expenses for cottage rentals, food and communal meals are split, and tend to run from $50-$100 USD per night. Often people will share a room if money is tight.
Vermont is beautiful is June. We are a small, rural state. The workshops and Camp take place about 1/2 hour drive from Burlington International Airport. Some people prefer to fly into Montreal, New York or Bost0n airports, and then take train or bus to Burlington/Essex Junction. Otherwise, we have limited public transportation. It’s easy to rent a car, or to get rides from locals. Here in Vermont, we do our best to live by our steadfast values of community-minded, neighborly ways and hospitality. Please Contact Us for further information about accommodation and transportation.
