Live Interviews with Maggie Carey

Finding Our Way in Narrative Conversations!

Miniseries Description

What does it look like in narrative practice to see problems as separate from persons, to take on a multi-storied approach, and to find openings to stories linking people to their know-how and skills?

In June 2016, a  group of narrative practitioners met with Maggie Carey for four days at All Souls Gathering in Shelburne, Vermont to explore key narrative principles in action and to practice specific skills navigating tricky dilemmas in our everyday work. This series  explores interviews with  Three workshop participants, Jen, Jon and Linda, generously volunteered to be interviewed by Maggie in front of an audience as opportunities to demonstrate narrative practice in action. Each interview has been edited to highlight specific maps of narrative practice, as shown on a whiteboard. The edited interviews also include reflecting teamwork and responses to questions participants have of Maggie about why she went the way she did in each interview.

After each interview, we gather a small group of skillful narrative practitioners from around of the world, each of whom has trained extensively with Maggie . Our six reflecting inquirers are: Raviraj Shetty & Jehanzeb Baldiwala (Mumbai, India), Alfonzo (Poncho) Diaz (Mexico City, Mexico), Sonja Bar-Am, Terry Callahan and Mark Byrne (Adelaide, S. Australia).

All registrants also have free access to Using a whiteboard where Maggie shows maps of narrative practice, at times, illustrating with her work with Maria & Kaylie. We offer this initial mini course for free  as a reference to anyone taking the other courses.

Registration for these self-paced courses is open and ongoing!

Maggie Carey was a co-founder of Narrative Practices Adelaide- the center Michael started in 2008, just a few months before his untimely death.
