Try Our Self-Paced Interactive Courses!
Our courses draw from narrative practitioners’ best teaching experiences and everyday practices. Anyone can start at any time. Self-paced, you can move through each lesson and topic according to your own schedule. Every course is different, while bringing together three components:
- Course materials (text, video and audio) organized into self-paced lessons, topics, and categories. Each lesson in a course takes about two hours.
- A practice-oriented exploration guided by an experienced practitioner
- Opportunities to try out exercises, participate in webinars, post questions, share ideas and build connections.
For an additional fee, you can earn APA Approved Continuing Education Credits through Alliant International University. We welcome inquiries about adapting our courses to various contexts, such as local consultation groups, training programs, and higher education.

So much stood out! I keep coming back to this idea of panning for gold. The area I live in has a huge gold mining history. Often, when hiking in the mountains, I come across a gold miner or two working in the rivers. I remember having a conversation with a miner and him saying, ‘The miners in this area, back in the day, they barely scratched the surface. There’s still an f*#@ tonne of gold in these hills. It makes me think about how, in our conversations, we can scratch the surface, or we can take the time and intrigue to pan for the gold that is there waiting to be discovered. I think, too, it’s about refining our ‘panning craft’ and honing our eyes to see those ‘glints of gold’ that might easily be missed.
Thank you so much to all the incredible people who contributed to this course and put it together! It was wonderful to revisit the tenets of narrative therapy again, as I sorely need these continued revisitations to keep striving to be a narrative therapist! It was really nice to see all the contributors’ different points of view and journeys, helping me to see how they continue to conceptualize narrative work and develop new ideas to enrich it. Usually, when we watch a video of a master, we remember how wonderful the master is, but in all of David’s cases, we also remember how good the client is. Their goodness becomes a landmark in our career, and we can transfer that to others to say how good they are.
