Re-Authoring Teaching, Inc. is a consortium of narrative practice teachers, practitioners, and enthusiasts worldwide who promote training and professional development in a narrative approach to therapy, organizational, and community work. “Re-Authoring Teaching” is a play on the term “Re-authoring Conversations” that Michael White and David Epston coined in their original description of narrative therapy.

Reauthoring Teaching is the narrative therapy site that best reflects the heart and spirit of narrative practice. David Epston and Micheal White, narrative therapy’s originators, embraced a philosophy of sharing their ideas and practice generously. Their intention has always been informed by the joy of seeing the ideas working out there in the world. Reauthoring Teaching sits within this tradition. A spirit of collaboration, inventiveness and the generous sharing of narrative ideas and practice is what it is all about. It has been such a delight for me to work alongside Peggy and all the other contributors to the site.           (Kay Ingamells, Auckland New Zealand)

Who We Are

Re-authoring Teaching, Inc. draws from the best of our teaching experiences and everyday practices as narrative practitioners with a focus on skill-building and application in a range of contexts.  Our Partners and Narrative Faculty provide professional development, continuing education, training, and education for many mental health and healthcare disciplines, such as psychologists, clinical mental health counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and psychiatrists.

Now internationally recognized as a hub of narrative teaching and learning opportunities, Re-Authoring Teaching remains deeply committed to the spreading of narrative training for practitioners—in addition to an increasingly emphasized focus on cultivating the development and flourishing of highly skilled and experienced educators who might apply narrative ideas to their fields so that the inspiration, integrity and legacy of the form continue to evolve into a sustainable future.

In its second decade, Re-Authoring Teaching emphasizes the emerging voices of younger and internationally based practitioners.
