What’s new and different about our Learning Community?2018-12-29T07:33:52-05:00

Our learning community keeps morphing to adapt to its members’ preferences. We are doing our best to keep up with new developments in educational technology: adaptability to large and small devices, a growing capacity for multi-media and video conferencing. We began as an online study that connected through discussion forums.  Since 2015, our Collab Salon monthly real-time meetings ‘on a cloud’ have become the centerpiece for conversation. We’ve created several self-paced Online Courses available for continuing education credit. Through our Faculty Offerings, we’ve added Faculty Consultation Groups and Trainings.  We sponsor a series of Refreshing the Spirit of the Work workshops in Vermont, and collaborate with our partners to offer workshops in other places. We now have our own  Reauthoring Teaching Youtube channel. And behind the scenes we are developing new online courses as well as materials for Higher Education. None of this could be possible without creating a collaboratory, and the help of our Board, Faculty and community members.

How do people get to your workshops?2018-11-04T05:36:44-05:00

Burlington Vermont is about 1/2 hour from All Souls Gathering (Shelburne),  40 minutes from Treleven Farm (Vergennes) and one hour from EastView (Middlebury). Many people take a plane, bus or train to Burlington. The Manchester, New Hampshire or Albany, New York airports are about 2 1/2 hours away. We are also about a 3 hour drive from Montreal, Quebec or a 4 hour drive from Boston.  It’s very difficult to get around Vermont without a car; sometimes people rent a car. We also carpool as much as we can.

Do you offer accommodation?2018-11-04T05:38:34-05:00

We do not have onsite accommodation at Treleven Farm, All Souls Gathering or EastView.  The nearest towns are Middlebury (EastView), Vergennes (Treleven), Charlotte, and Shelburne (All Souls).  There are plenty of options nearby: hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Inns, lakeside cottages and camping. If you need help, please contact us and we are happy to help.

How – and where- do I earn Continuing Education Credit?2018-12-01T06:41:33-05:00

Our Online Courses, and Workshops offer continuing education through Alliant International University for licensed social workers, psychologists and other mental health clinicians.  CEs are currently not available for Collab Salon and only for a Faculty Offering classified as a training group. The certificate costs an extra $20-$25 per course. You’ll be asked to follow the regulations such as signing in and signing out, and filling out an evaluation form at the end of the workshop. Just be sure to sign up for the Continuing Education option and then follow our instructions. For our online courses, we also offer both a course description and a “Certificate of Completion” for submission to other professional disciplines.

Who attends our Re-authoring Teaching Trainings?2018-11-27T18:09:19-05:00

Our Narrative Trainings – Workshops, The Collab Salon, Faculty Offerings and Online Courses – are appropriate for psychologists, social workers, psychiatrists, nurses, graduate students, counselors, and other human service practitioners in work contexts that include independent practice as well as agency settings such as community mental health, parent-child centers, and hospital programs. We also welcome to our workshops community members/individuals interested in a particular topic.  Contact us if you do not quite fit in this description but hope to participate anyway.

How user friendly are your courses?2018-12-29T07:32:21-05:00

Our self-paced courses are organized into lessons and topics. With an eye toward user friendliness and ease of navigation, we strive to simplify everything. Periodically, we experience technical glitches that test everyone’s patience. If this happens to you, please  contact us. With sincere apologies, we’ll do our very best to troubleshoot and to get you on track.

What do I do if I’m experiencing technical difficulties?2018-12-01T06:26:31-05:00

First and foremost, please accept our sincere apology for any technical problems you encounter along the way. We share your frustration with the limits of this technology!  Behind the scenes, we work hard to fix any glitches. Please contact us with specific details. Are you having trouble registering?
