Multi-storied body consultation group was for me a place where curiosity, sharing, dialogue and co-research were headed towards new directions. A place where the exploration of the landscape of action opened new possibilities. A place where the question of “what is possible to know?” was articulated again from a different perspective and towards new directions.

Yiannis Kafkas, Narrative Practitioner, Photographer

What happens when we shift from viewing our bodies as a single entity to experiencing our bodies as a community of diverse members, each with their own experience, position, and stories? This consultation group is for folx who are interested in centering post-structural, narrative practices, intersectional feminisms, and community ideas in accompanying individuals, couples, families, and communities in practices that are inclusive of our bodies and bodies we are in relationship with.

In the previous consultation groups, we have had a diverse mix of practices, including dance movement, peer support, filmmaking, community work, political movement, and various therapeutic forms. Refusing to adhere to singular realms of practice (i.e. clinical, therapeutic, artistic, creative, political etc) has contributed to a vibrant community practice. We have found it generative in these six sessions to move between sharing fragments of practice, unpacking experience, crafting possibilities through questions/positions/invitations, and experientially engaging with ideas.

Themes include but are not limited to…

  • Influence of power and discourse on how value is assigned to bodies and members of body community – and how this shapes enquiry in our exchanges

  • Positioning: decolonial, feminist co-research and accompaniment

  • Community of members metaphor and engaging community, group and political practice in consultation

  • Permission, consent and participation

  • Responding to trauma, injustice, displacement

Sessions are recorded for participants of the group and Padlet is used between sessions for questions and sharings.

Maximum 8 people with 2 spaces saved for a reduced fee.
