My body community has been so relieved, excited and filled with wonder to meet the ideas of multi stories bodies, with Poh. I treasure the conversations I get to have with various body communities on account of these precious ideas.

Being part of this consultation group, with gentle invitations to expeditions of my bodies, my imagines and understand further urgencies of care, needs, resonances, things to express, of the collective, in others, in me. I felt immediate possibilities to apply these findings and ideas to my current practices. The guidance of Poh and her offerings transcend the multilayering of spoken languages, sending invitations, questions.. building creative bridges to see, to be seen, to hear and be heard.

Our Multi-Storied Bodies Practices

Consultation Group with Poh Lin Lee

6  1.5 hour bi-weekly Wednesday sessions

 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm EDT

My experience with the multi-storied bodies consultation group can be described as expansive, playful, tender, moving, and novel. Poh offered a generous and hospitable space that was both grounding and uplifting all at once, allowing each of us within an international community to co-research with radical care and unapologetic curiosity. This group became a safe passage to re-appear, re-engage, and re-imagine our relationships with not only members of our physical bodies, but also our bodies of knowledge, spirituality, ancestry, music, movement, poetry, and more. The experience enriched my politics and practices both personally and professionally.                                                                                                                           Shuo Yuan (www.sycounseling.com

What happens when we shift from viewing our bodies as a single entity to experiencing our bodies as a community of diverse members, each with their own experience, position, and stories? This consultation group is for folx who are interested in centering post-structural, narrative practices, intersectional feminisms, and community ideas in accompanying individuals, couples, families, and communities in practices that are inclusive of our bodies and bodies we are in relationship with.

In the previous consultation groups, we have had a diverse mix of practices, including dance movement, peer support, filmmaking, community work, political movement, and various therapeutic forms. Refusing to adhere to singular realms of practice (i.e. clinical, therapeutic, artistic, creative, political etc) has contributed to a vibrant community practice. We have found it generative in these six sessions to move between sharing fragments of practice, unpacking experience, crafting possibilities through questions/positions/invitations, and experientially engaging with ideas.

Themes include but are not limited to…

  • Influence of power and discourse on how value is assigned to bodies and members of body community – and how this shapes enquiry in our exchanges

  • Positioning: decolonial, feminist co-research and accompaniment

  • Community of members metaphor and engaging community, group and political practice in consultation

  • Permission, consent and participation

  • Responding to trauma, injustice, displacement

Sessions are recorded for participants of the group and Padlet is used between sessions for questions and sharings.

Maximum 8 people with 2 spaces saved for a reduced fee.
