Please join us for the Book Launch of Narrative Practices & Emotions with Marie-Nathalie Beaudoin & Gerald Monk!
In this Collab, Sasha discussed some of what she has been learning since the law changed in Aotearoa and facilitated a conversation about narrative practices that might be helpful when a person is contemplating how they want to die. Sasha described some examples of conversations with people who: chose to die through assisted dying, who deteriorate suddenly before the assisted dying assessment process has been completed and with people who change their minds and opt to die with palliative care support only. There was an exchange with participants who had experience in this area of practice.
How can we develop working relationships across narrative generations to become mentors to each other? What are some of the fresh ideas and different nuances persons from different generations are adapting to narrative practices from their cultural and historical contexts? This gathering brings together two narrative practitioners in conversation across narrative generations. Akansha will interview Peggy Sax, a narrative therapist and Founder of Re-authoring Teaching and Trishala Kanakia, a fairly new narrative therapist and the Re-authoring Teaching Assistant. We hope to spark ideas about how narrative practices are being applied in diverse work contexts and also to highlight the fresh and different nuances each practitioner may bring in as they use the practices with their know-hows, wisdoms and adaptations.
What’s happening with Re-authoring Teaching? What’s going on behind the scenes? A great group got together for our annual tradition reviewing new developments with our Faculty Offerings, Workshops/Narrative Camp, Community Higher Education/Educators Portal, Community and our Reauthoring Teaching Youtube Channel. After giving a brief update, we used break-out rooms to talking among ourselves about what's working and suggestions for the future.
Peggy Sax created The Michael White Legacy project as a companion to the narrative gathering on Coronado Island, San Diego. Building on the Legacy of Michael White: A Decade of Narrative Developments (March 28-30, 2018). Our hope is that others will now send us their contributions. Whether you can come to this event or not, this community project gives us many opportunities to reflect together: Looking Back, Exploring Initiatives Honoring Michael's Intentions, and Re-imagining the Future of Narrative Therapy. Join us for this Collab Salon when we will share our collective efforts to create a collaboratory in honor of our mentor, Michael White.
Narrative Initiatives San Diego (NISD) and Re-Authoring Teaching are co-sponsoring A Narrative Gathering next March 2018 in beautiful Coronado, CA. Together we will honor the work and influence of Michael White and share new developments in Narrative Therapy.Therapists, students and others interested in Narrative practices are welcome. Jan Ewing and her colleagues will join this Collab Salon to share more about the history of the idea, the agenda, invited speakers and registration information. In addition, we would love to hear your ideas!
What's happening with Re-authoring Teaching? We are eager to show off some new developments with our Faculty Offerings, Workshops, Higher Education/Educators Portal and Youtube Channel. There is lots to share, and we'd love your input.
Were you able to participate in our June workshops and Narrative Camp? If you were not able to join us, would you like to hear more about the learnings? Join us for an opportunity to reflect on take-aways from these experiences.
Beginning with reflections on Narrative Camp 2016, we took stock of what's happening with Vermont Workshops, The Collab Salon, Online Courses and Higher Education, and with our Reauthoring Teaching Youtube. Together, we shared take-aways from Maggie's workshop at All Souls Gathering. We also reflected on being part of a learning community guided by an ethic of hospitality, and which minimizes hierarchy.
Re-authoring Teaching is a mission-driven non-profit organization guided by the vision of bringing together a global learning community of narrative therapy practitioners, teachers, and enthusiasts. Our renovated website has made it possible to focus on building our Narrative Training, Resources and Conversation. Join Maggie, Charley & Peggy for reflections on "Narrative Camp" as we take stock of what's happening with Vermont Workshops, The Collab Salon, Online Courses and Higher Education, and with our Reauthoring Teaching Youtube Channel. We'll share some of our plans for the coming year, and hear your ideas too.
Peggy Sax facilitated a conversation about Reinventing Re-authoring Teaching's future. For the past several months, a team of people have been working behind the scenes on a major renovation of our website, Youtube channel and online course offerings. Together we honored Michael White and David Epston's legacy, traced the evolution of this online learning community, and celebrated our new beginnings.
