Peggy Sax replied to the topic Topic 1B: What are some distinctions from other approaches? in the forum Lesson 1: What is narrative therapy? 5 years, 9 months ago

Welcome Johanna! I am happy you are taking this course as a non-therapist/broad thinker. I also love the spirit of narrative practice – the playfulness, the decentered positioning, the invitation to collaboration, the honoring of everyone’s knowledge and skills: how  it enables all sorts of chemistry to happen within and between different people…[Read more]

Mike I really appreciate your preferred story. While  I am not Christian, I am inspired by your story about Jesus and the sermon on the mount. I think a lot about The Busyness and Scarcity- for me too, it helps to take notice and then  try to catch how far they get. I also think about the narrative about “self care.” Recently a woman I know fr…[Read more]

Mike this is really interesting for many reasons. YES to The Busyness & The Scarcity as two discourses that seem to operate with such intensity in the USA in the 21st century. I’m glad you know you don’t have to buy in. I’m curious whatever you have discovered along the way to help you keep perspective, and to position yourself differently from…[Read more]

Terrific, Mike! Do you ever come back to the USA for visits? If so, keep in mind that we host our annual “Narrative Camp” on Lake Champlain every June…It’s one of the best Community Confidence Builders I’ve ever experienced!

Totally the right track, Mike. Your comment reminds me of how Michael would intentionally use the words “thick” or “thicken” rather than “deep” or “deepen.” I too find it strange how other approaches deem cultural-historic factors as less relevant to mental health than the intra-psychic. As someone living/working in China, yet who grew up in…[Read more]

Peggy Sax replied to the topic Topic 1C: Remembering Michael in the forum Lesson 1: What is narrative therapy? 6 years, 4 months ago

Mike it’s really good to “meet” you and to help usher you into the narrative world. You clearly have an affinity with these ideas. I too wish you could have met Michael. There was a time when it was hard to imagine Narrative Therapy without him. As much as we miss him, I’m delighted to say narrative therapy has continued to flourish and to…[Read more]

Thank you, Mike, for warming up the discussion in this online course! I love that you are discovering narrative practice as engaging, readable, life-giving and applicable to the personal/professional/spiritual contexts of your life. I am also intrigued as I imagine you going about deconstructing the story of The Un-Confidence: your discoveries as…[Read more]

It’s virtually impossible to find a time that will work for all. However, we really want to do our best. For future registrants, we could schedule additional webinars if enough people request them. Are there any changes to the clock or calendar that you would suggest: Was at the right time of the year?
